Formerly named: Beginning Latin (Wheelock), Part One
NOTICE: This is an older course recorded with Adobe Connect and/or Vimeo recordings. We are currently working to replace the recordings with new Zoom recordings. Please don't hesitate to email us at homeschoolconnections@gmail.
Suggested grade level: 9th grade and up.
Suggested high school credit: One full semester of a foreign language
Required Textbook: Wheelock's Latin (click on title for ordering information)
How to Get the Most Out of Beginning Latin:
- Recording: Always begin each lesson by watching the class recording first
- Notetaking: Be sure to take good notes while you watch the recording
- Weekly Checklists: After the video, read the weekly checklist to help you stay organized and to unlock the first assignment
- Assignments: Homework is to be done in succession. To help you stay organized, you must "complete" each assignment before the next one will unlock for you. For example, you must view the weekly checklist before A 1.1 will open. You have to complete A 1.1 before A 1.2 will open, etc.
- Homework: You are encouraged to do the corresponding homework as you aim to master the material for any given lesson
- Answer Keys: All assignments are either graded automatically by Moodle, by yourself (with the aid of feedback from Moodle), or during our recordings. For example, you might be asked to "bring" a certain translation to class. It needs to be complete before you watch the recording. During the recording, the instructor goes over the correct answers. Be sure to correct your mistakes as you watch and listen.
- Review: If you are confused about what you learned, re-watch parts of the recording for clarity
- Time Frame: You may work at your own pace. Students are encouraged to complete one lesson per week.
- Quizlet: This is intended to help guide you as you master the material. For ease of access, here is the direct link to our Quizlet study classroom: https://quizlet.com/join/4AKnWtpfZ
