How to get the most out of this course:

  • First, read the course details below and order the course materials.
  • Prepare a notebook for note taking and homework.
  • Students begin the course by clicking on the "Recording" and watching the lecture for Class One.
  • Review supplemental materials (videos or readings)
  • Complete the assignment(s). Turn it into your parent for grading.
  • If you need review, go back and watch the recording again and/or go over the Power Point.
  • Repeat until all 8 classes are complete.
  • Once the course is completed to the parent's satisfaction, there is a Certificate of Completion at the end to be filled in for your records.

Prerequisite: Middle School Beginning Apologetics I-II plus one High School level apologetics course, or equivalent

Suggested Grade Level: 9th to 12th grade

Suggested Credit: ½ semester Theology. To extend to a full semester, see Recommended Course Materials and present a research paper to your parent.

Course Description: Over the last century, a myth has developed that the Science and the Catholic Church are enemies or that scientific knowledge is superior to all other forms of knowledge. This class explores the roots of science, the problem of scientism, and shows how the Church gave birth to modern science.

  • Class 4: Problems with Materialism

  • Class 5: The Problem of Scientism

  • Class 7: Catholic Contributions to Science
