Course description: This course is the next step for students who have taken Intermediate Latin and are ready to implement their knowledge through translation. Henle Latin (Advanced) will focus on implementing both grammar and vocabulary along with mastery of translation. Students will learn about advanced grammatical concepts and gain more practice with translation. The goal of this course is to help students gradually transition from being students of grammar to becoming students of translation. Students will hone and deepen their knowledge of Latin syntax, grammar, and vocabulary. Students will discover by the end of this course that they are more confident in their translation abilities and that they will be able to identify syntax and grammar with more ease.

Course outline:  Part Two will cover approximately Lessons 19-32 in Henle Second Year Latin.

Course materials: Henle Second Year Latin, ISBN: 978-0-8294-1027-3 (https://amzn.to/30mzO8j) and the Henle Latin Grammar (https://amzn.to/3v3Zq82). Students also need to have a functioning headset with a microphone.

Homework: Students can expect to spend a couple of hours a week on homework assignments (primarily translations). There will be quizzes and exams to help assess students’ mastery of the material taught in this course.
