Introductory MS Mathematics: Gamified Level 6, Part Two


Middle school is an excellent time to discover, re-discover, or foster a love for the fascinating world of mathematics. Just because something is an essential skill does not mean it has to be boring. Let’s continue building skills and finding the joy of math together!

How to get the most out of Middle School Mathematics, Part Two with Tammy Parker:

  • First, read the course materials below before the first class meeting.

  • Then have a notebook ready and available for class notes each live session.

  • Read assignments before class meetings

  • Watch that week’s recording if you need to revisit information from our live session.

  • Do the assignments, quizzes, and any extra work assigned for that week.

  • Once the course is completed to the parent's and professor’s satisfaction, there is a Certificate of Completion at the end to be filled in for your records.

In addition to class instruction, there will be recorded video lessons.

Suggested Grade Level: 6th grade (or advanced 5th grade or older student in need of a solid foundation)

Course Description: Math CAN continue to be interesting and fun! Intro to Middle School Mathematics, Part Two continues your student’s journey to advance and solidify knowledge in several areas of mathematics by utilizing videos, Quizlet, games/puzzles, and class instruction, as well as the same color-filled text and workbook from Part One. For this course, we will work on middle school level math concepts, problem-solving, and vocabulary related to Expressions, Equations, Geometry, Probability, and Statistics. In addition to the daily homework, making use of the tools mentioned above, there will be three Section Tests and a Final Exam. This is the course that is taken after Intro to Middle School Mathematics, Part One.

Course Outline:

Weeks 1-4: Expressions and Equations

Weeks 5-8: Geometry

Weeks 9-13: Probability and Statistics

Week 14: Course Review and Final Exam

Course Materials:

Printed: TWO Books (These are utilized for both Part One and Part Two of this course). Students will need copies of both books that have not been written in yet (except what they wrote in themselves during Part One). (See https://www.bookfinder.com for the best prices):

Homework:

Weekly homework will be detailed on a daily basis and will include instructional videos, reading, class instruction, workbook exercises, Quizlet practice, games/puzzles, and a Moodle Mini-Quiz.

There will also be four Section Tests and a Final Exam on Moodle.

Students should expect to put in a minimum of one hour per day, five days a week for the coursework.

Parents should note that the answer keys in each book are for the student’s use to check themselves as they practice their daily work.

Special Notes: As a GAMIFIED course, students learn through a variety of assignments that include games. This is Part Two of a two-part course. New students can be accepted mid-year if there are available seats.

Course Description: This is a sound and comprehensive instructional journey in a gamified format. Math can be interesting and fun! Weekly Quests include videos, class instruction, colorful textbook assignments, workbook assignments, Quizlet, & games/puzzles. During Part Two of this course, students will advance and solidify their knowledge of 6th-grade mathematics, problem-solving, and vocabulary related to Expressions, Equations, Geometry, Probability, and Statistics. In addition to the daily homework and making use of the tools mentioned above, there will be 10 Quizzes, 3 Section Tests, and a Final Exam, all graded on Moodle. Following this course, your student can continue exploring the exciting world of gamified math with Quintessential MS Mathematics: Gamified Level 7, Part One.
