Starting Time: 1:00 PM Eastern (12:00 Central; 11:00 Mountain; 10:00 Pacific)

Duration: 55 minutes per class
Prerequisite: Wheelock's First Year Latin, Part One or Henle Latin: First Year, Part One (live or recorded).  If students have not taken Latin with Homeschool Connections, they will need a score of 80% or higher on the required entrance exam. (Email ehenry@homeschoolconnections.com for exam. There is a small administrative fee for the exam.)

Course Description: Throughout this twelve-week course, students will continue learning Latin grammar and vocabulary. They will explore both Classical and Ecclesiastical pronunciations as well as the history behind this beautiful language. Quizlet and other materials supplemented by the instructor will be utilized to encourage good study habits. The textbook, Wheelock’s Latin, will be our overarching guide for the course.

Class One: First and Second Conjugations Future Tense and Imperfect Tense - Caput V

Class Two: Sum and Possum, Complementary Infinitive - Caput VI

Class Three: Third Declension Nouns - Caput VII

Class Four: Third Conjugation, Present Tense - Caput VIII

Class Five: Demonstratives - Caput IX

Class Six: Irregular Adjectives (-ius) - Caput IX & Fourth Conjugation Verbs (Caput X) 

Class Seven: Midterm Exam 

Class Eight: Personal Pronouns, Demonstratives - Caput XI

Class Nine: The Perfect Active System - Caput XII

Class Ten: Reflexive Pronouns and Possessives; Intensive Pronoun - Caput XIII

Class Eleven: Review and Translation 

Class Twelve: Review, Translation & Final Exam

Course Materials: Wheelock's Latin 7th Edition, ISBN: 0061997226 (http://amzn.to/2EFXPLS or bookfinder.com) and other materials supplemented free by the instructor.

Homework: Students will have homework assignments, quizzes, and exams that will reinforce the material covered in this course. Students can expect to spend 30 minutes a day on their homework. In addition to homework, students will be encouraged to study Latin for at least fifteen minutes each day for mastery of both vocabulary and grammar.
