Instructor Access (optional grading support) for Unlimited Access families is available for this course!

Continue learning with Part Two of this foundational Anatomy and Physiology course designed to help students grow in understanding of and appreciation for the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the human body, leading them to a deeper respect for human life and for God, the Creator of all life.  If you would like your non-STEM-centered student to take anatomy and physiology and satisfy the high school Anatomy and Physiology requirement, then this is the course for you.

How to get the most out of Basic Anatomy and Physiology, Part Two with Inshal Chenet:

  • First, read the course materials below before the first class meeting.

  • Then have a notebook ready and available for class notes each live session.

  • Read assignments before class meetings

  • Watch that week’s recording if you need to revisit information from our live session.

  • Do the assignments, quizzes, and any extra work assigned for that week.

  • Once the course is completed to the parent's and professor’s satisfaction, there is a Certificate of Completion at the end to be filled in for your records.

Special notes: This is Part Two of a 2-part course.

Course description: The human body is filled with intricate systems all working in unison. If any one of these systems fails, we risk death. How does our incredible body work? This introductory-level course provides a survey of the human body systems so that students will gain in-depth knowledge of the systems of the body. Homeostatic balance, the relationship between structure and function, and the interrelationships between body systems are a focus throughout the course. There will be optional dissections for the students to do / watch before classes, which will be discussed in class.

Course outline:

Week 1: Integumentary System
Week 2: Nervous System
Week 3: Nervous System Continued
Week 4: Respiratory System
Week 5: Endocrine System
Week 6: Senses
Week 7: Review for Midterm
Week 8: Digestive System
Week 9: Metabolism and Nutrition
Week 10: Reproductive System
Week 11: Pregnancy and Life
Week 12: Review for Final

Course materials: Anatomy and Physiology: The Easy Way, 2nd Edition, by Edward Alcamo, ISBN: 978-0764119798 (https://amzn.to/3KhnDP9)

Note: The section of this book on the human reproductive system we will not be using; instead the instructor will be giving handouts. The chapters on these systems (Chapter 22&23) have anatomical drawings of the human reproductive system in case a parent would like to remove that part of the book before giving it to the student.

Homework: Each week, students will be required to read a selection from the textbook, take a short quiz, and every few classes watch or perform a simple dissection on their own.
