In this course you will carefully study the book of Genesis. Yes, we know all these stories well from our childhood. Yet, there is so much that we often overlook. As we read through these sacred texts together, we will find great insights in Genesis and will grow in respect for Scripture.

How to get the most out of  Genesis Deep-Dive with Inshal Chenet:

  • First, read the course materials below before the first class meeting.

  • Then have a notebook ready and available for class notes each live session.

  • Read assignments before class meetings

  • Watch that week’s recording if you need to revisit information from our live session.

  • Do the assignments, quizzes, and any extra work assigned for that week.

  • Once the course is completed to the parent's and professor’s satisfaction, there is a Certificate of Completion at the end to be filled in for your records.

Course description: The Book of Genesis is wonderful, rich and inspirational. But we have been told these stories since we were little children, and tend to not pay close attention to them anymore! During this course we will be unpacking various details of Genesis and growing in our appreciation of Scriptures! 

Course outline: 

Class 1: Revelation and Reason; Definitions of “Inspiration”; Senses of Scripture

Class 2: Creation of the Universe

Class 3: Man & the Fall

Class 4: The Ante-Diluvian Patriarchs

Class 5: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob

Class 6: Joseph: Last of the Patriarchs and Type of Christ

Course materials: A Bible. Please use an Ignatius Press RSV edition. The Jerusalem Bible or Douay-Rheims are also acceptable; New American Bible is tolerated.

Homework: Students will spend about 30 minutes each day reading the book of Genesis.
