Course Description: Middle School Medieval History provides a comprehensive overview of the European Middle Ages. Beginning with the Fall of Rome in the 5th century, this course will guide students through the formative events of the Middle Ages up until the dawn of the Renaissance. The course will cover important political developments, as well as cultural trends, literature, and interesting personalities of the period. Special consideration will be given to the influence of the Catholic Church on the formation of medieval life.

  • Class 3: Merovingians and Carolingians

  • Class 4: The Norsemen

  • Class 5: Medieval Christianity

  • Class 6: The Feudal Age

  • Class 7: The Crusades

  • Class 8: Towns and Merchants

  • Class 9: Pilgrims and Mendicants

  • Class 10: Medieval Education

  • Class 11: The Latter Middle Ages

  • Class 12: The Close of the Middle Ages

 

Course Materials:

Homework: Homework will consist in weekly reading from the textbook, self-graded weekly work out of the student book, and quarterly automated online quizzes. The estimated homework commitment per week is two hours. There is no answer key booklet included with this course.
