Course Description: An introduction to the social thought of G.K. Chesterton in the context of Catholic thought on society, economics, and the family.We'll explore Chesterton's masterpiece What's Wrong with the World in the first five weeks and end with The Superstition of Divorce, a series of articles Chesterton wrote for the New Witness.

        Week One: Part One: The Homelessness of Man

        Week Two: Part Two: Imperialism, or the Mistake About Man

        Week Three: Part Three: Feminism, or the Mistake About Woman

        Week Four: Part Four: Education, or the Mistake About the Child

        Week Five: Part Five: The Home of Man, plus Three Notes

        Week Six: The Superstition of Divorce

Homework: Read the assigned chapter(s) in preparation for class and take a short multiple-choice quiz after each class. The chapters are short but packed full. 1 1/2 to 2 hours of close reading would be recommended to prepare for class.
